Solace is uncomplicated with saffron colored walls and wood beams; the front bar room is casual and great for a full meal or just snacks and drinks; white banquettes add chic-ness to the farther room with French doors that open onto the landscaped patio.
Joe Scalice formerly of March restaurant is the general manager. That said, You can expect service and direction that is miles above neighborhood restaurants with such modest price points as Solace. Food that is classic, but not old fashioned, simple to taste but complex with market ingredients; a calm in the storm of the New York restaurant scene. Chef Regueiro loves Provençal flavors in dishes such as Salt Cod and Gnocchi Ragout, Bay Shrimp and Chorizo Risotto and a terrific Eggplant, Goat Cheese and Tomato Terrine.
His passion for classic cuisine is demonstrated in Phyllo Baked Cod, Bourbon and Honey Lacquered Duck Breast and Butter Braised Lobster That may be the best in town. The meal completes with devastating desserts: Key Lime Tart, a rich Chocolate Mocha Layer Cake, and beignets (the classic French-New Orleans fritter with chocolate sauce) that are memorable.
Diners’ taste buds delight at these memorable flavors, and besides being incredibly satisfied, a meal at Solace leaves them with a feeling of serenity. Excellent value and highly civilized. Our restaurant find of the month.
Solace is open for Lunch Monday – Friday, and Sunday Brunch from 11am – 3pm;
Dinner Monday – Saturday from 5pm – 11pm, and Sunday 5pm – 9pm
