The Rink at Rock Center Blooms Into Spring
Out of the Ice – A Garden Bar Emerges!
Patina Restaurant Group announced the opening of the Rink Bar, replacing the world’s most famous Ice Rink; where it will rejoin Gotham’s social scene during the summer months. Unveiling this Mother’s Day, May 11th, the Rink Bar will feature a wide array of refreshing cocktails in addition to a new spring/summer menu. Surrounded by gardens previously occupied by ice, this al fresco dining experience becomes one of New York City’s best kept secrets.
Arguably the city’s most iconic wintertime landmark, the closing of the Rink signals the formal end of winter when it trades its signature frosty white for spring’s most vibrant colors. The budding Rock Center trees create a haven for New Yorkers who crave a sizzling outdoor scene. A true harbinger of warmer weather, the Rink Bar will boast 120 tables on the sunny sunken plaza.
Featuring shady umbrellas, palm trees and tropical plants, it offers an outdoor oasis in the heart of New York City to locals and visitors alike. Framing the Rink Bar on each side is outdoor seating at Rock Center Café and The Sea Grill – among New York City’s most sought-after dining destinations.
Drinks such as the Mango Mojito, Peach Blossom Cosmo and Mixed Berry Caipirinha are just a few of the thirst-quenching cocktails that will be served at the Rink Bar. Summer dishes from the menu include specialties from the open grill such as BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Asian Tuna Burgers, Thai BBQ Chicken and Hickory Smoked Rum-Basted St. Louis Ribs.
Open seven days a week, the Rink Bar includes the famous view of the gilded statue of Prometheus, the flowing water of the illuminated fountain and unobstructed views of the surrounding Art Moderne skyscrapers. Guests looking for an evening snack can savor a new bites menu, and for those looking for a midday break, the Rink Bar also serves lunch daily, and brunch on Sundays.
The Rink Bar is located off of Fifth Avenue, between 49th and 50th streets. For reservations, guests can call (212) 332-7620.
