FEINSTEIN’S AT LOEWS REGENCY

PRESENTS

THE RETURN OF TV AND STAGE STAR

LYNDA CARTER

HER NEW SHOW RUNS OCTOBER 21 – 25

FEINSTEIN’S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed “Best of New York” by New York Magazine and “an invaluable New York institution” by The New York Post, will continue their 10th Anniversary season with the return engagement of TV and stage star LYNDA CARTER. Her new show runs from October 21 – 25 at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

Immediately following her smash run in Atlantic City this month – which the New York Daily News called “total and triumphant” – Lynda’s new show features hits by the Supremes (“Where Did Our Love Go?”), the Beatles (“In My Life”) and Bonnie Raitt (“I Can’t Make You Love Me”), in addition to standards like “Fever,” “Deed I Do” and “Put the Blame On Mame.” Lynda is currently recording a new CD in Nashville for release later in the year. At Feinstein’s, she will be joined by a five piece band led by Music Director Sam Kriger.

LYNDA CARTER, after being crowned Miss World-USA in 1973, outdistanced hundreds of other actresses for the leading role in “Wonder Woman.” Carter went on to produce and host a series of five Emmy-winning television network variety specials featuring her singing and dancing, appearing with guest stars like Ray Charles, Kenny Rogers, George Benson, Merle Haggard and Tom Jones. More recently, she has starred or guest starred in dozens of films and television series, including “Smallville” and the films Dukes of Hazzard and Sky High. Her recent stage credits include appearing as “Mama Morton” in the West End production of Chicago. She also performed at Chicago’s 10th Anniversary on Broadway celebration at the Ambassador Theatre in New York, alongside other stars Ann Reinking, Bebe Neuwirth, Joel Grey, Chita Rivera, Brooke Shields and Melanie Griffith.

An accomplished singer, Carter showed a talent for music since her

early childhood. She co-wrote several songs on her upcoming album and made frequent appearances as a singer during her career, including performances at London’s Palladium, the MGM Grand and Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, and highly-rated television shows, including “Lynda Carter’s Variety Special” and “Lynda Carter: Encore.”

FEINSTEIN’S AT LOEWS REGENCY will play the following schedule: Tuesday through Thursday at 8:30 PM. The new weekend schedule will present shows on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Shows have a $60.00 cover with $75.00 premium seats, except for the 10:00 PM shows, which have a $40.00 cover with $60.00 premium seats. All shows have a $40.00 food and beverage minimum. MARY CLEERE HARAN MAD FOR MANHATTAN

FEINSTEIN’S AT LOEWS REGENCY

PRESENTS

THE RETURN OF

MARY CLEERE HARAN

“MAD FOR MANHATTAN”

OCTOBER 7 – 18MARY CLEERE HARAN

FEINSTEIN’S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed “Best of New York” by New York Magazine and “an invaluable New York institution” by The New York Post, will continue their 10th Anniversary season with the return engagement of MARY CLEERE HARAN from October 7 – 18. The world premiere of her new show “Mad For Manhattan” will celebrate Mary’s adopted city through songs from the Golden Age of Broadway and Hollywood. All shows are at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

“’Mad For Manhattan’ is a paean to New York from a California native who first saw the city through the magic of Hollywood movies,” says Mary. “This is a tribute to uptown and downtown, Busby Berkley and Fred and Ginger.” We see the glitz and glamour of New York through songs by Leonard Bernstein (“New York, New York”), Rodgers & Hart (“A Tree In The Park” and “Manhattan”) and Cy Coleman (“I Walk A Little Faster”), in addition to numbers by George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin, among others. She will be joined by Musical Director Don Rebic on piano and Chip Jackson on bass.

MARY CLEERE HARAN, one of the most renowned singers of “The Great American Songbook,” has garnered rave reviews from audiences and critics alike for her witty, sophisticated performances. The San Francisco native, who has been compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Rosemary Clooney, evokes the charm, style and wit of 1930s movie stars like Myrna Loy, Irene Dunne, Jean Arthur and Carole Lombard. She has performed at some of the most prominent venues in the country, including Lincoln Center, Rainbow & Stars, The Russian Tea Room, The Cinegrill in Los Angeles, The Plush Room in San Francisco and the Bellevue Hotel in Philadelphia. Her previous critically-acclaimed shows at Feinstein’s include “Mary Cleere Haran Sings Doris Day” (2007) – recently featured on CBS Sunday Morning – and “Lullaby of Broadway: The Harry Warren Songbook” (2005).

It was Haran’s love affair with classic movies of the 1930s and 1940s – most notably the black and white Warner Bros. films bursting with brassy, sassy Gold Diggers and Jazz Age Gershwin music – that sparked her love affair with American popular song. She cites Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Doris Day as primary sources of inspiration, but Hollywood’s Golden Age has made an indelible impression on Ms. Haran’s singing. She also boasts an impressive list of theater credits, making her Broadway debut in The 1940s Radio Hour and appearing Off Broadway in Manhattan Music, Swingtime Canteen and Heebie Jeebies. On TV, she had a recurring role on Sidney Lumet’s drama “100 Centre Street” on A&E.

In addition to her illustrious performing career, Ms. Haran is a respected writer and researcher who has brought her talents to numerous PBS specials, including Michael Feinstein’s “The Great American Songbook,” “Remembering Bing,” “Irving Berlin’s America,” “When We Were Young: The Lives of Child Movie Stars,” “Satchmo,” a documentary about Louis Armstrong, and the aforementioned “Doris Day: A Sentimental Journey.” She was one of a select group asked to write on Frank Sinatra’s death in The New York Times. Her CDs have been praised by Entertainment Weekly, People Magazine and The New York Times. Her most recent release is Crazy Rhythm: Manhattan in the ‘20s.

FEINSTEIN’S AT LOEWS REGENCY will play the following schedule: Tuesday through Thursday at 8:30 PM. The new weekend schedule will present shows on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM. All shows have a $60.00 cover with $75.00 premium seats. All shows have a $40.00 food and beverage minimum. Jackets are suggested but not required. FEINSTEIN’S AT LOEWS REGENCY is located at 540 Park Avenue at 61st Street in New York City. MICHAEL FEINSTEIN

“THE SINATRA PROJECT”

WITH NEW YORK’S FINEST SWINGING 17 PIECE BAND

SEPTEMBER 2 – 6

FEINSTEIN’S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed “Best of New York” by New York Magazine and “an invaluable New York institution” by The New York Post, will open its 10th Anniversary season with the return of the club’s founder MICHAEL FEINSTEIN for one week only, September 2 – 6. Musical Director Bill Elliott will lead a 17-piece band featuring Bucky Pizzarelli on guitar, Jim Saporito on drums, and David Finck on bass. September 2 will also mark the release of his new CD – The Sinatra Project from Concord Records – which collects the great romantic songs performed by “Ol’ Blue Eyes.” All shows take place at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

“For years I’ve wanted to celebrate Sinatra’s musical sensibilities, but I have no desire to copy the classic songs that he rendered better than anyone else. I wanted to create an album that would explore his style of singing and his style of music” comments Feinstein. The album was recorded as it would have been fifty years ago, in the famous last surviving recording studio from the days of stereo, Capital Studio A in Hollywood. The CD is comprised of classics such as “Fools Rush In,” “I’ve Got a Crush on You,” “At Last Love,” “Exactly Like You,” and many more.

LOOKING GLASS THEATRE ANNOUNCES EXCITING FALL 2008

SEASON

Balinese Children’s Fairytale with Music, A Groovy Re-Invention of Pix’ Classic and Winter 2008 Forum Featured on the Looking Glass Stage this Fall

The Looking Glass Theatre proudly announces its Fall 2008 Season: ADVENTURES OF THE PUPPET PRINCESS, written and directed by Fullbright recipient Jennifer Goodlander; THE SPANISH WIVES, by Mary Griffith Pix, re-invented and directed by NYIT Award nominee Aliza Shane; and the WINTER 2008 WRITER/DIRECTOR FORUM, featuring 12 original and adapted classical works with female playwrights and directors.

ADVENTURES OF THE PUPPET PRINCESSES…
Playing October 11 – November 23, The Adventures of the Puppet Princess is a Balinese fairytale with music which follows Putu, a troublesome tomboy, and Nyoman, the neighbor boy that her father, a master puppeteer (dalang), is teaching about the art of puppets. Putu loves to play with the puppets and make up stories, but in Bali girls can’t be puppeteers, or can they? When Putu and Nyoman get lost in the jungle, they encounter fantastical creatures who share stories through dance, comedy and masked drama. But their only way out of the jungle is to create a puppet show for a witch (layak)! Reluctant to work together, can they set aside their animosity to perform a puppet show magical enough to impress the witch and get home? Is all that seems scary and evil also good?
