THE METROPOLITAN OPERA’S gRAND TIER Restaurant Opens ALONG WITH A new season of american ballet theatre
Introduction of $49 / $24 Prix Fixe Menus and “Verona Dinner”
Coinciding with American Ballet Theatre’s spring season opening on May 18th, The Grand Tier Restaurant at the Metropolitan Opera House will offer Florentine-inspired menus from renowned Chef Umberto Montano of Alle Murate. And in a nod to the current economic climate, The Grand Tier Restaurant will offer prix-fixe menus this season for the first time, priced at $49 for adults, $24 for children.
Montano’s cuisine will be available exclusively in New York at The Grand Tier Restaurant through the rest of the summer. Montano collaborated with Executive Chef Jeff Raider to create the menus, which blend sophisticated Italian cuisine with age-old techniques.
In a repeat performance, Chef Raider is continuing last year’s successful dessert and ballet pairings– desserts that match the performances. The light-as-air confections reference and pay homage to ballets including Romeo and Juliet, Sylvia, Swan Lake and Le Corsaire.
“We encourage ballet lovers to extend their cultural experience beyond the theatre into the dining room,” said Chef Raider. “It’s a lot of fun to enjoy dishes that have relevance with the performance.” These desserts can be enjoyed during dinner pre-curtain or make for a perfect intermezzo, ordered to eat during intermission.
Additionally, a 3-course “Verona Dinner” menu will be offered during ABT’s performances of Romeo and Juliet July 6-11th. Signature dishes and wines will be offered from Verona, the northern Italian city where the classic Shakespeare tale takes place.
Menus are included below, including both the ballet pairings and the prix fixes.
The Grand Tier Restaurant is open to all Lincoln Center guests. Once reserved only for Metropolitan Opera ticket holders, The Grand Tier’s cuisine now also accommodates ticket holders at Avery Fisher Hall and the New York State Theater. Located on the Grand Tier level of the Metropolitan Opera House, The Grand Tier boasts impeccable service, a view of two breathtaking Chagall paintings and a wall of windows overlooking Lincoln Center’s fountain. The restaurant opens two hours prior to the performance Monday through Saturday. For reservations, guests can call (212) 799-3400 or visit www.patinagroup.com.
American Ballet Theatre’s 2009 season at the Metropolitan Opera House runs through July 11. Tickets (priced $19-175), are available at the Met box office or by phone at 212-362-6000. For more information, please visit ABT’s website at www.abt.org.
