While Geneva has its share of pricy haut, hot spots (mostly with French, Italian or internationally base cuisine), there are a number of ethnic choices that range from so-so to very good. In the latter category is the delightfully friendly Jeck’s Place, which happily offers a vast range of Singapore kitchen, as Singapore is the nation of diners of all sorts where the visitor is greeted with an amazing variety of aromas and spicy flavors which so accurately reflect the varied racial origins of today’s Singapore.
The style combines the many styles of Chinese cooking complete with the richly,spiced food of Malays, Indians and the delicate touch of Thai food.
The degree of spice tends to vary, and guests may feel free to let the kitchen know how spicy they prefer. Whatever you order, don’t miss the heavenly Laksa, a sort or soup-stew that is one of our favorite Asian dishes (It means “ten thousand,” because there are SO many condiments to be added. This Southeast Asian fast food–said to be the creation of ancient Chinese who migrated to Malaysia–is sold as a meal from thousands of soup vendors, all of whom have their own special recipe).
The whole menu follows and you will love the welcome by the charming manager, the gentle prices (for expensive Geneva) and cozy ambiance with lots of locals, some children and lots of good beer.
