London has no absences of hotels, of all types and for every pocket. We chose two small options in outstanding neighborhoods for a truly “London” experience without breaking the bank and a terrific airport hotel for those who would like to take advantage of Maxjet’s low process and luxury but wanted to head for the continent, instead of stay in London. Our first stop, The Franklin, combined the tranquility of a country house hotel with one of the best locations in London. Located in the heart of the residential district of Knightsbridge and overlooking a lovely tree-lined garden square, you will be only two minutes walk from Harrods or the V&A, and five minutes walk from the shopping on Sloane Street. The theatres of the West End are only a short ride away and London Heathrow Airport and the City are both easily accessible by taxi, nearby Underground or chauffeur driven limousine. Following complete reconstruction of the four original Victorian townhouses, The Franklin opened as a hotel in September 1992. The bedrooms have been meticulously maintained and continually refurbished and are decorated with discreet good taste, giving the impression that the guests are staying in the owner’s home. This is reflected by antique furniture, oil paintings, objets d’art and traditional fabrics that are found in every room.
Located in on of London’s most elegant residential areas, this gem of a hotel, recalls a country Manor House, A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, each room, from the charming reception area, lounge with its honor bar and custom designed guest rooms charm. Our deluxe double was wondrously long and beautifully appointed with three huge windows overlooking Edgerton gardens, tile bath with brass fixtures, lovely canopied beds, butler tables and skirted tables. Breakfast, served in a room with deep green walls and walls lined with lovely china, is carefully considered with organic produce, lovely croissants, grain breads, really fresh squeezed orange juice, wonderful eggs and home made ham and topnotch coffee and tea (request the real stuff not bags) is a joy and is served 24 hours to accommodate the schedule of guests. Wonderful evening tea and a personalized service that always seem to be smiling make you never want to leave and become a regular client. Even you reservation is confirmed with a personal note inquiring if you need assistance with transportation, theater tickets or whatever you need by the charming Reservations Manager: Nelle Buchan. The Franklin may be diminutive but is in the major league.

If The Franklin personifies the feminine aspects of a small, luxury hotel, The Royal Park is its masculine counterpart and benefits from a very central London location with excellent transport links and is ideally placed to enjoy and explore all the best that London has to offer.
Hyde Park is just a stroll away from the hotel and is a wonderful place for jogging or walking. It is the largest of the royal parks in central London and dates back to the reign of Henry VIII, who used it as a hunting ground. Here you will find the famous statue of Peter Pan, the Serpentine lake, a great favourite for boating, and the Diana Memorial Gardens (dedicated to the memory of Diana, Princess of Wales).
Exclusive London shopping is just across Hyde Park in Mayfair and Knightsbridge where shops such as Harrods and Harvey Nichols can be found as well as the Royal Albert Hall, the Science Museum, one of London’s most hands-on museums, the Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Similarly, whilst enjoying the calm of The Royal Park, the hotel is only a short distance from the theatres, bars and sights of London’s West End. In the other direction is Notting Hill, with its many designer and eclectic boutiques, and on Saturdays you can stroll around the famous Portobello antiques market.
The Royal Park hotel is just a two-minute walk from Lancaster Gate Underground station on the Central Line, offering easy access to London’s West End and the City. Paddington main-line station is also within easy walking distance of the hotel and provides a direct 15-minute link to London’s main airport, Heathrow Airport, on the Heathrow Express. Paddington also takes you further afield to Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, the Cotswolds, Bristol, Wales and the West Country.
The Royal Park is an elegant London hotel, ideally situated for easy access to many London attractions and transport links throughout the city. Superbly located on Westbourne Terrace, just to the north of Hyde Park, London’s largest royal park, and close to Lancaster Gate, the hotel comprises three carefully restored, mid 19th-century Grade II listed townhouses.
Thoughtfully decorated in lively Regency colors and complemented with fine artworks and antiques, The Royal Park is a haven of timeless elegance and comfort but with a fresh, contemporary feel. Ideal for both business and leisure travellers staying in London, The Royal Park is just a short walk from Paddington station with fast links from London’s Heathrow Airport via the Heathrow Express. West End shopping, restaurants and theatres are within easy reach of the hotel with London underground stations at both Paddington and Lancaster Gate. The renowned London attraction, Notting Hill, with its designer boutiques, is not far from the hotel and just across Hyde Park are the shops of Mayfair and Knightsbridge.
Each one of the beautifully presented hotel rooms at The Royal Park has its own distinctive character, with some of the rooms offering French windows and balconies or adjoining sitting rooms. Experience that extra level of service during a stay at The Royal Park and enjoy a welcoming glass of sherry or whisky when you arrive at the hotel. Champagne and canapés are offered to hotel guests each evening, and The Royal Park also provides a small but select Room Service menu.
Every bedroom has a particular character, some with elegant French windows and balconies, others with wonderful views over London rooftops and church spires, and some with adjoining sitting rooms. The canopied mahogany four-poster and half-tester beds have white linen bed hangings and the very best hand-made mattresses covered with crisp cotton sheets, soft Welsh woolen blankets and fine feather pillows. The traditional bathrooms have plush white towels and monogrammed cotton bathrobes and slippers - with the power shower providing a reviving blast after a hard day’s work, shopping or sightseeing.

Radisson SAS Takes Off at Stansted
New Hotel Features Europe’s Only 4,000 Bottle ‘Wine Tower’
The only hotel directly linked to the Stansted Airport main terminal via a walkway, the Radisson SAS Hotel London Stansted Airport is an ultra modern hotel specially designed for the business and leisure traveler. One of the most unique features of the hotel is the 19-metre tall atrium that takes your breath as do the amazing blend of colors and fabrics decorating the hotel.
The hotel features Europe’s only ‘Wine Tower’ in the atrium of the hotel. Standing at over 43 feet tall, the tower is home to 4,000 bottles of wine. A high-speed computer-controlled winch system transports human ‘wine angels’ up and down the tower to retrieve chosen bottles of wine before delivering them safely to guests’ tables.
The hotel’s 500 rooms are designed in three distinct styles – Chili, Ocean and Urban – providing a choice of accommodations to suit individual preferences. The Urban style is fiery and vibrant with red furniture and dark wood. The Ocean style reflects the calm of the sea with blues and jade greens, while the Chili style features bright colors with quirky furniture, creating an atmosphere distinctly different from traditional airport hotels. All rooms are equipped with wireless Internet access.
Filini is the hotel’s Italian lifestyle restaurant, while TaPaell’Ya serves authentic tapas and paellas in a relaxed and modern atmosphere. The New York Grill Bar is the ideal place to relax after a long day with a drink in its cosmopolitan atmosphere. We enjoyed terrific cocktails, steaks and extraordinary wine, as well as some mouthwatering desserts.
Each of the hotel’s 26 meeting rooms – a total of 4,265 square feet of space – feature wireless Internet access, video conferencing and natural light from floor to ceiling windows. The Essex Room, the largest of the meeting rooms, can accommodate up to 300 people.
The hotel also features a health club with spa treatment rooms, an indoor pool and a gym.
And don’t miss the elaborate buffet breakfast.
