Jay: I'm J. Walman with the Restaurant Report. Windows On The World, originally opened in 1976 reopened on June 27, 1996 following a 25 milion dollar renovation. This monumental restaurant on the 107th floor of the World Trade center estimates a yearly gross of 30 Million dolars. With graphic design by Milton Glaser, dazzeling uniforms by Carrie Robbins and seating for 240 people, prices are realistic, service is slick and food, under the direction of Philippe Feret can be ravishing. Kevin Zraly's wine list is eminently affordable and no Broadway spectacle overshadows the first glimpse, as the elevator door opens to revel a 38-foot- wide solid wall of thousands of undulating beads, greetings by pages dressed in colors of the sky, fabric-wrapped origami ceilings in Champagne tones, a multi-level space apricot-fabric banquettes, yellow and blue china with designs stars, moons and clouds and panoramic windows revailing the changing hues of sunset and vistas of Manhattan---90 miles in every direction on a clear day. If the room sways, it may not be the result of magnificant Cocktails, but a high wind that makes the tower sway up to 11 inches. A perfect meal must begin with the perfect foie gras (for 3 to 8), the whole liver seared, then roasted in Sauturnes and grapes with a galette of pear and potatoes. Freshwater pike arrives on a skewer to be plunged in a sauce of pineapple, shiitake mushrooms and coconut cream sauce, and a whole veal shank is seakled in parchment paper with cumin, garlic and Mexican aromatics, then roasted for two in its own juices. Conclude with "meringue merengue," a whimsical dessert of tropical ice cream layer cake (papya, pineapple, coffee & rum), wrapped in soft meringue, homemade cookes and coffee with Port or Cognac at Windows On The World, One World Trade Center. That's A Plus on my Restaurant Report Card. I'm J. Walman and all my reviews are available on the "Internet" through the Internet Exchange at (212)935-3322, that's 935-3322 and mention Punch In International Syndicate.

Now the WNCN restaurant review - brought to you by Melini and Folonari - quality wines - imported by Fredrick Wildman and Sons. WNCN's Restaurant Critic -- Jay Walman -- reviews: a restaurant with one of Manhattan's most dramatic views.
Jay:Windows On The World is one of our town's delights, and even seasoned New Yorker's cherish this monumental tribute to high style dining in the sky. The prix fixe menu offers excellent value, and if you order selectively, a good meal can be assembled. The wine list - as always - is a joy, and one of our town's most inventive and attractively priced - thanks to WNCN's own Kevin Zaraley. The other restaurants in this complex: City Lights Bar; the Hors D'Oeuverie; and the phenominal Cellar In The Sky should also be experienced. Windows on the World - 1 world trade center - 'A' Major. I'm J. Walman -- for 104 WNCN.
