LORRAINE BRACCO INTRODUCES BRACCO WINES

The Sopranos Star and Oenophile Launches Signature Line of Italian Wines

Actress Lorraine Bracco, star of the HBO drama The Sopranos and films such as Goodfellas, Medicine Man and Someone to Watch Over Me, now shares her great passion for quality wine and Italian heritage with the introduction of Bracco Wines.  Having lived in Europe for ten years, Lorraine was exposed to the craftsmanship and tradition of winemaking and quickly became enamored with the process. While gaining acclaim for her acting prowess, she has continued to refine and develop her palette while her respect for and interest in wine has grown through the years.  She has now handpicked eight notable Italian wines, from Pinot Grigio to Amarone, for release under the Bracco Wines label to share her passion and provide all levels of wine enthusiasts a trusted voice for quality.

Born in Brooklyn to a traditional family, Lorraine revels in her memories of large family gatherings with big meals, fine wine and lots of laughter.  Later as a model living in France and traveling Europe for ten years, she became enamored with European traditions and culture, particularly the appreciation of quality wines and gastronomy.  Longing to share her admiration for fine wine and Italian heritage, Lorraine embarked on a journey through the vineyards of Italy to personally select the wines for the Bracco Wines label.  Each wine, from Pinot Grigio and Montepulciano to the very rare Brunello di Montalcino, was carefully selected by Lorraine to showcase the best representation of the region or varietal.

“The most important thing to me is enjoying time with family and friends, and being Italian, food and wine have always been part of the fun. Selecting a wine though, with so many regions, grape varietals, and other choices, can be very intimidating for people,” shared Lorraine Bracco.  “Living in Europe opened my eyes to the craftsmanship of wine, the different types of grapes, the effect of terroir, the many steps and varying methods in the process of creating an exceptional wine. The more I learned, the more fascinated I became.  With Bracco Wines, my goal is to share my love and passion for good wine and provide great wine selections that best represent the regions of Italy for people to enjoy with their family and friends.”

Lorraine is dedicated to being personally involved in all aspects of the wine selection process, from tasting vineyard varietals to interacting with the distributors, retailers, restaurants and fellow wine lovers.  Lorraine has chosen the following collection of wines that make up the quality selection of Bracco.

We have found the wines offer excellent quality and value and rate A+ on Wine On Line

Wines:

Pinot Grigio: Produced from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes grown in the area of delle Venezie in the Italian Alps, this is a truly fruit forward wine with a pale straw color and an intense fruity nose. Pairs well with poultry, fish and can be enjoyed as an aperitif.  (Approximately $12.99)

Montepulciano: Produced in Abruzzo, home to the best Montepulciano, this soft and elegant vintage has a deep purple color with intense aromas. It is a perfect companion for poultry and game.  (Approximately $12.99)

Primitivo: One of Italy’s native grape varieties, Primitivo is best grown in the area of Puglia. The Bracco Primitivo is produced solely from old vines trained in the traditional Alberello system. The yield has been reduced to a mere 35 hectoliters per hectare giving this extraordinary wine a tremendous concentration of fruit and color. The grapes are hand picked and the wine aged for one year in oak barrels, then aged in bottle for an additional 3 months. (Approximately $27.99)

Chianti Classico: The Bracco Chianti Classico has its roots in the most prestigious area of Tuscany. A truly elegant wine with notes of black cherry and plum. By aging in new Slovenian Oak Barrels for one year the wine is characterized by a superior structure that allows it to improve with age. Pairs well with pasta, poultry and all meat dishes.  (Approximately $26.99)

Chianti Classico Riserva: Our Chianti Classico Riserva is an estate bottled wine from the village of Panzano. It is an intense wine with a deep color and spicy aromas. On the palate there is a long, smooth finish that fills the mouth. The wine is aged in new French Oak for twelve months and then another four months in Slovenian Oak. This extraordinary wine is produced only in very good years and there are only 10,000 bottles of this wine available in the United States. Pairs well with beef and dishes with rich sauces.  (Approximately $38.99)

Amarone Classico: This wonderful estate wine is produced from 50% Corvina, 30% Molinara and 20% Rondinella and Rossinella grape varieties. The vineyard is located in the towns of Fumane and Pedemonte in Veneto.  The wine is deep red in color with a very rich, slightly sweet finish that lasts a long time on the palate. The availability of this wine in the United States is limited to only 10,000 bottles.  (Approximately $46.99)

Barolo: Barolo is one of the great red wines of the world and certainly one of Italy’s treasures. The Bracco Barolo is produced by blending the grapes from three specially selected vineyards. The resulting wine is aged in barrel for at least 3 years and once bottled an additional three to five years aging in a dark cellar is recommended before consumption. One of the outstanding characteristics of this deep ruby wine is its black cherry flavor. Limited to 7,500 bottles in the United States. Pairs well with red meats.  (Approximately $47.99)

Brunello di Montalcino: Most experts agree that Brunello di Montalcino is the finest red wine of Italy and indeed one of the great red wines of the world. Montalcino is a small Tuscan hill village south of Sienna where the great Brunello di Montalcino is produced. The Brunello grape variety is in fact a clone of the classic grape variety of Tuscany the Sangiovese and is known as the Sangiovese Grosso. My Brunello di Montalcino is a single vineyard wine aged in wood for 4 years and then an additional 6 months in bottle. Velvet to the taste with a deep rich texture, this wonderful wine should be decanted twenty-four hours before serving. Pairs well with red meat roasts and all game.  (Approximately $64.99)
