Cabana Cachaça Launches in the U.S.

First Double-Distilled Cachaça in the American Luxury Spirits Market Poised to Revolutionize Popularity of the World’s Third Most Distilled Spirit.

ABB Partners, LLC is pleased to announce the arrival of Cabana Cachaça - the first cachaça double-distilled in pot stills to yield the only truly premium cachaça in the U.S. market. With unrivalled purity and distinctly superior palatability, Cabana Cachaça is uniquely positioned to deliver a long overdue appreciation of Brazil’s national spirit.

The third most distilled spirit in the world, cachaça (pronounced kah-SHAH-sah) is rum fermented and distilled in Brazil directly from freshly pressed sugarcane. This is unlike most rum, which is distilled from molasses, a bi-product of the industrial sugar-making process. Characterized by an intensely fresh aroma of raw sugarcane, cachaça is a strong-bodied spirit reputed for its unadulterated purity.

A Silver Medalist at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Cabana utilizes a  pioneering production method that successfully eliminates the impurities responsible for cachaça’s sometimes harsh taste without compromising any of the spirit’s unique characteristics. At the core of the production process are two highly controlled distillations of the fermented cane juice in pot stills, as opposed to the large column stills used for continuous distillation by most producers. Small batch distillation in pot stills allows the master-distiller greater control over each distillate - crucial when separating portions of the “head” and “tail,” containing undesirable properties, from the spirit’s “heart.” The resulting spirit is rum in its purest form, retaining the vital, yet subtle, essence of freshly cut sugarcane.

Matti C. Anttila, President of ABB Partners, LLC explains, “Our quest was to bring a truly premium cachaça to the American market and elevate the sophisticated consumer’s awareness of this globally significant spirit. We knew the key was to produce a smooth, balanced spirit retaining hints of the freshly pressed sugarcane, while minimizing the impurities that are commonly associated with cachaça.”

Faithfully produced in Brazil at its distillery outside São Paulo, Cabana Cachaça arrives at a time of global growth in premium cachaça and rum consumption and burgeoning international visibility of Brazil’s appealing cultural identity.  The national birthplace of samba, bossa nova, modern soccer legend and supermodel-mania, it is prized for its effortless sensuality and exoticism and its blend of spectacular urban and rural characteristics.  International cognoscenti already recognize cachaça as the correct ingredient in the Caipirinha, Brazil’s headily evocative national cocktail. The Cabana, the brand’s signature cocktail, builds off the global success of the Caipirinha. Not as sweet as a Mojito or as strong as a Caipirinha, The Cabana is the perfect fusion of the two and is positioned to become the next major cocktail trend in the U.S.

Cabana’s superlative quality and positioning breaks the boundaries of limitation that cachaça has historically faced abroad.  Cabana’s distinctive bottle design stands in stark contrast to all its competitors. The 750ml bottle from Saverglass in France features a substantial, weighty base and is perfectly endowed with classically balanced proportions and a clean, modern shape. Collaborating with award-winning designer Andrew D. Wolf, Saverglass utilizes a silk-screening printing method to impose an innovative label design onto the bottle, including a discreet pass-through rendering of the Brazilian flag, representing a bold move away from the traditional paper labels most common with cachaça and rum.

Scheduled for a U.S. rollout beginning in June, 2006, Cabana appeals to the steadily growing demographic of sophisticated, individualistic drinkers who are increasingly looking for a new luxury spirit experience. The purest form of rum, with a delicately citrus nose and a smooth, round finish, Cabana is set to become synonymous with the product category itself, redefining the space and propelling cachaça from beneath the bar to front and center alongside the most premium spirits in the world.

Our tasting confirms that is an incredible product and is highly recommended.
