Single Barrel Estate Rum was first introduced in the U.S. in 1997. The bottle’s label has a picture of an 18th
century clipper ship (like those that sailed the Caribbean, trading in rum and
sugar, during the time Cruzan Rum Distillery) that was commissioned by the
company specifically for this product.
The artist, Claus Hoie, a Norwegian-born Merchant marine, studied art in
Paris and in New York. His works are found in museum collections throughout the
U.S.
Awards: “Best Rum” and unanimous winner of
“Double Gold” award at San Francisco World Spirits Competition, 2000. Named World’s Best Rum by Frederick Koppel,
nationally syndicated columnist, Commercial Appeal, Memphis, Tenn. Designated
as “Caribbean Gold” by Bon Appetít magazine.

Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands

§
A blend of rums aged between two to four years
in charred oak, bourbon barrels. It is
one of the very few rums aged for two years.
§
The light rums, as a result of the two-year
aging, receive slightly more charcoal filtration to remove some of the color
but not enough to compromise the inherent taste of real aged rums. It is this difference in taste and
appearance in color (Chardonnay light hues) that distinguishes Cruzan rums from
all other light styled rums. Both the
light and dark rums are lightly filtered after aging, prior to bottling.
Description: The light rum has a dry, clean
taste with some light vanilla overtones as a result of added aging that creates
a pleasant finish. It is light bodied
with Chardonnay-like hues from aging in oak casks. As a result of the two to four year aging (versus the traditional
one year aging typical of Puerto Rican rums, the dark rum is light to medium
bodied in flavor and slightly darker in color than traditional rums of this
type.
Available
Sizes: 50
ml, 200 ml, 375 ml, 750 ml, 1.0 liter and 1.75 liter
Cruzan Ltd., the
company that pioneered the extended flavored rum category, today announced the
newest product to join its award-winning brand portfolio of premium-distilled
spirits: SHAKKA. Available in three vibrantly colored flavors
– Kiwi, Apple and Grape – SHAKKA is a tropically inspired,
fruit-based liqueur distilled from grain and blended using all-natural
flavors. The spirit dually celebrates
the beauty and raw power of one of nature's most awesome attractions, the
volcano, and Hawaii, one of the world's most exotic locales.
In Hawaii, “Shaka” is a local greeting,
vocalized or expressed as a hand gesture where the thumb and little fingers are
extended with the middle three closed.
Synonymous with “How's it going?”, the term reflects the island’s
relaxed attitude and vibrant spirit, and is the inspiration for the name of
this laid-back liqueur. Shakka provides
the perfect starting point for those who aren't afraid to “shake things up” in
the name of unpredictable fun – like a tropical island adventure.
“The authenticity of the fruit essences sets
SHAKKA apart from its competitors as a liqueur that’s sophisticated in quality
and lighthearted in spirit,” explained Timo Sutinen, director of marketing for
Cruzan Ltd. “SHAKKA captures the
authentic flavor of three of the world’s most popular fruits in a refreshing
liqueur that’s perfect for mixing into lively and colorful cocktails.”
Designed to capture the allure of molten
lava's curvy path, SHAKKA's bottle is slender yet substantial, eye-catching yet
easy-to-hold, and even more fun to pour.
