Glazebrook

Glazebrook is Ngatarawa Wines international brand and is exported to many countries around the world. Launched in the mid 1980's it is now one of New Zealand's most respected wine labels. It is named after the Glazebrook family who were founding partners in Ngatarawa Wines.

Established in 1981, Ngatarawa Wines (pronounced Naa Taa Raa Waa) was one of the earliest boutique wineries in New Zealand. The company has a reputation for pioneering premium grape and wine production from the dry, free-draining land on the edge of the Heretaunga Plains, west of Hastings in the Hawkes Bay.

Specialist viticulture and winemaking techniques are used to make Glazebrook, which is an award winning range of premium quality wines. The fruit for these wines is selected from premium grape growing regions in the Hawkes Bay, either in or near the Ngatarawa locality.

Glazebrook represents the very best in quality from the Hawkes Bay, and from New Zealand. Wines within the range receive ongoing gold medals, trophies and endorsement from New Zealand's leading wine authorities and regularly featured in specialist Cuisine magazine wine reviews and in Cuisine Wine Annual Classic Wine reviews by Bob Campbell MW.

Glazebrook Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2004

Producer Background: Glazebrook was established in the mid-1980s by Ngatarawa Wines (pronounced Naa Taa Raa Waa), one of the earliest boutique wineries in New Zealand. The company has a reputation for pioneering premium grape and wine production from the dry, free-draining land on the edge of the Heretaunga Plains, west of Hastings in the Hawkes Bay.

Wine Type: Dry White

Grape Type: 100% Sauvignon Blanc.

Country: New Zealand

Region: Marlborough

Vinification: Notes from Winemaker Alwyn Corban: Several batches of Sauvignon Blanc grapes from different vineyards in different sub-regions of Marlborough were fermented separately at low temperatures to capture their individual characteristics and to maintain maximum varietal flavour. Together these wines give a blend with completeness of palate structure and an array of fruit characters. The wine shows good weight, acid balance and has an intense, long fruity finish.

Tasting Notes:
Color:Pale straw with lime hues.
Bouquet:An intense nose of passionfruit, ripe tropical fruits and gooseberry.
Palate:An intensely fruity palate with ripe tropical fruits and passionfruit. A clean crisp finish with the classic Marlborough herbal edge.

A refreshing fruit driven wine, full-bodied with intense flavours typical of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. An ideal accompaniment to seafood, fresh salads or vegetarian dishes (especially when incorporating fresh herbs)

Food Match: Sushi, salads, oysters, grilled vegetables, fish, crab, Asian cuisine. This would also be a perfect match for Indian cuisine.
